Creepshots and the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy of “Free Speech” – The New Inquiry
“…when people invoke “free speech” to defend a person’s right to take pictures of unwilling women and circulate those pictures on the internet, they are saying that it is okay to do so. They are saying that society has no legitimate interest in protecting a woman’s right not to have pictures of her body circulated without her consent. Her consent is not important. If all of the things that Michael Brutsch did, as “Violentacrez,” are protected free speech, then we are saying they are legitimate. Freedom of speech only protects the kinds of speech that some version of the social “we” has determined not to be violent. And by saying that what he did was protected, we are determining that those forms of violence against women are not, in fact, violent. And this matters because something so insubstantial as “culture” has a powerful impact on the actual practice of the law.”

[TW Rape, Suicide, Coercion, Emotional Abuse]
I once had a boyfriend tell me that our relationship would end if I didn’t have sex with him, that I was ugly, and that nobody else would have me. I’m a wrestler, and stronger than him, and he told me that was his only reason for not raping me. I…
Have you been raped?
Rape is far too common. In the North America, in China, in Florida, in South America, all over the world. Just in the U.S., 17,700,000 women and 2,780,000 men have been victims of rape.
Have you been raped? Rape is, unfortunately, somewhat acceptable in today’s culture. That proponent is called rape culture. Jokes condoning rape, playing down the severity or aftermath of rape, hiding or shaming rape victims - that’s rape culture.
I don’t know how many of my followers have been raped. But I have been raped. I was raped by a 28-year-old man I was dating. While we were kissing on my bed, I told him I didn’t want to have sex tonight. He kissed me again, smiled, and said he was fine with that. Seconds later, he stuck his cock in me.
I instantly pushed him off me and asked him why he did that. His explanation? He thought I was joking. I wasn’t. He didn’t mean to hurt my feelings or hurt me. He just thought I was joking so he proceeded with the penetration anyway.
Does anyone else have a similar story? I put this event out of my mind until recently, and I realized that he completely ignored my explicit desire to not have sex.
